Next Level Strengths-based Training

Alana Billingham presents ‘Next Level Strengths-based training’. Building upon FinCap’s and CBNZ’s original training programme, this day will further help you embed your strengths-based practice in your every-day practice as a financial mentor.

Alana, an expert in motivational interviewing and negotiation techniques, will bring her drive, passion and expertise to us. This event was run in Christchurch last year, and due to demand is now being made available over Zoom to make it more accessible to others across the country.

This practical workshop focusses on the following areas:

  • Goals – what makes it the right goal? Why is goal setting so important, and how do we work together to select the right goals?
  • Language – the importance of language, and how to provoke change language in your clients
  • Feedback coaching with clients – How to work with clients in an ongoing way. How to provide encouragement and guidance without unintentionally using power or patronising behaviours. How to identify and avoid our own internal communication bias traps when interacting with our clients, families and colleagues.
  • Group coaching focusing on giving support and feedback on real case studies; Strengths-based principles for working with others;  and a reminder of PILLARS principles and why they matter.
